Christmas Baskets
Immanuel Lutheran hosts a Christmas basket giveaway for people who need a little help during the holiday season. It started sometime before 2005 as a joint effort between the Clay Police Department and Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. After the Sheriff’s Department replaced the Town of Clay Police, Immanuel Church started doing it solo. Glenn King was the driving force from Immanuel. The church's food pantry provided nonperishable goods, while items such as hams, potatoes, milk, bread, and bags of apples were donated or purchased. Butch King also made candy. Volunteers like Glenn and Barb Sotherden and John Wheeler helped fill boxes of all the food items. Each year more and more baskets are given out. In 2021, 40 baskets were donated to families.
